One Sentence that Ends Every Nagging

Sunday, July 13th, 2008

Don’t you think it’s about time you get married?

Don’t you think it’s about time you have children?

Don’t you think it’s a stupid decision to quit your job?

Sounds familiar? Well, the typical answer would be smile nicely while thinking about seven possible exits from that situation. You can try, “No, i’m not in a hurry to get married.” “No, I don’t like kids.” Then, suddenly they hit you with “But, WHY?”

Well, this sentence is a perfect answer to end it. Practice saying it.

“It’s my personal and private decision, and i really think you should respect it.”

Below sentences are taken from here

Remember when most people react or judge your choices, they’re revealing something about themselves, their beliefs or anxieties, even if they seem to be speaking about you (or believe they are). While that sort of behavior can affect you, it really and truly is not about you. Once you start to notice this, life can get pretty liberating.

You’re Customer. Customer is King.

Friday, July 11th, 2008

Customer is the king. Yeah, right! If that’s correct, why is reader’s mail so popular? Why does the shops, providers, companies treat their costumer like VUP (Very Unimportant Person)? Maybe because companies are the king of kings. Maybe losing one customer  isn’t a big loss. Perhaps, we didn’t act like a king and more like a tyrant. How to act like a king when you want to purchase something?

  1. Smile and be nice. Kings are usually a nice person. He’s likeable. If you want to purchase something, be someone that the seller enjoy selling the product. You can make some jokes or laugh at their jokes. Complain? Say it with happy face.
  2. Act generous. Don’t act like you are Uncle Scrooge from Ducktales. Yeah, i know you love to bargain, but don’t show it. Good king are generous. Say things like “Yeah, but if I get cheaper price now, I’ll come back later.” And if you want to complain, don’t act like if you didn’t get any refund, your whole world will collapse. Be cool.
  3. Do not threaten. Yup, many customer say things like “If I can’t get no..Satisfaction, i will write to newspaper.” Or worse.. “I will write it in my blog, you f*(k!” Kings know good diplomacy.
  4. But, show your ammunition. Appearances maybe overrated nowadays, but it still can bring some respect from the shops. Maybe you can bring your knowledge regarding some product you’ve read on internet or other sources so they know that they can’t fool you.
  5. Patience. Yup, you must remember that they are human too. Equal, not some lowlife crawling creature that sells things. Give them some time to understand your problem.
  6. Execute the guilty one, and choose another. And last but not least, if all hell breaks loose, just abandon your people, and pick another non-sucky people.

Any other suggestion to complain and bargain?

It’s time to wake Up [Lifestyle]

Monday, April 21st, 2008

My sister always complaining when my mother told her that a nice girl should wake up early in the morning and does not lay in the bed until ten o’clock. My sister is definitely not a few chosen people who can wake up at four o’clock and accomplished more than the rest of us who wake up hours later. What is their secret?

We can say we’re going to live with purpose, but unless we plan, we can tell ourselves that we’ll start living with purpose next week, or the week after that. Planning is one of the fundamental ways to maximize your mind to achieve your goals, and as such it plays a critical role in allowing us to have an awesome day, everyday.

Of course, wake up like any other must be practise and practise until it become a habit.

Control Your Piracy [Lifestyle]

Tuesday, April 1st, 2008

There are so many piracy in Indonesia. Books, Movies, DVD, and software. It’s not copyright that held firmly in Indonesia but right to copy. Truth be told, there’s no way you can really stop piracy. But, for those who indulge himself in piracy there’s some side effect if you’re not careful like :

  • Clutter around your DVD player because you bought your dvd but never watch them like ever.
  • Game that consume your time to complete every level.
  • Program that you cannot upgrade, but instead you wait for the crack version of that program.
  • Gazillion Bytes for mp3. And some even have the same songs. Yes, how many you bought those mp3 compilation and
  • Time consuming on picking the right movie or mp3 and even test if the disk have some stratch or not. You even wait in line to wait for the next customer.
  • Your harddisk is full with ebooks that free but you didn’t have time to read it yet.
  • A pile of CD, DVD, and also all possible media for you to keep CD and DVD like CD tower, CD bag, lot of plastic cover.

Yes, piracy is cheaper than original one. But with what do you trade it for? Time (to watch DVD or to choose thousand of mp3 to fit on your mp3 player), health (all physical activities that you can do instead of sitting like a couch potato watching DVD), and sanity (because you have to watch all that DVD, CD cluttered all over the place)
