The Useless Knowledge
Long time ago, a friend of mine, who frustrated with math problems, asked my math teacher.
“Sir, I want to be a writer when I grow up. Do I really need all this differentials and factorization? When will I need it in the future?”
He answered, “Well, imagine you come home alone in the middle of the night after your books signing, and someone tries to mug you and said, “Factorize x2 - 4 or die!”. You will be glad that I teach you about factorization then.”
It’s a lame sample, but who knows what might happen in the future. Someone said that we only used 10 percent of what we learned in high school or university. I agreed with him. But, we never know for sure which ten percent, we are going to need later.

Well, there were some subjects in learned in school which I hardly find it useful, like Java Language, and Pancasila.

Really not a good example by the teacher..

Your teacher is right. We might find his example weird but it there might be times in our lives that we will be needing Math’s help. Actually, almost everything we do involves Math

10% only ? hmm…..it’s been so common that one take a certain subject in college, and work in a totally different type of company.

I am an Engineer and I love math especially Algebra. I think it is not really the factorization that we can use whatever our profession would be after college, it is the logical thinking. Math helps us to think logically and practicing it can help us to think faster.
By the way, I think I want to live longer so the answer must be (x+2)(x-2)….lol!

Well, I used to complaint a lot about these “useless knowledge”. However, the statement “there’s no such thing such as useless knowledge” (like what Edy wrote) looks more and more valid by days. Still, I’m not sure how long will it take for me to realize that PPKN is useful…
…and oh by the way, Java language is super useful… (both of them ;D)

I really love how you put it that way
