What do you do with Bacn?

What is Bacn? According to wikipedia, Bacn is similar to spam but differs because the recipient has somehow signed up to receive it. It still fills your inbox, because you don’t want to read it at the moment and then eventually you mark all as read. Below is example of Bacn which is a notification email :

I’ve considered mails from mailing lists such yahoogroups as Bacn as well. What do you do with Bacn?

  1. Unsubscribe from Bacn. By default, social networking like friendster or facebook send notification email, but there’s a way to disable this options. Just check their settings.
  2. Filter it. You can do it using gmail filter. Using those filter, you can tag it and also you can mark all as read so it didn’t show up as unread and mixed with other very important letter.
  3. Delete it.

So, any other suggestions?

Actually, you do not need to delete all of file under “bacn category”. Please keep it on special folder, with auto-setting. Gmail, with sustainable capacity, can do this.

Use alternate e-mail address to sign up for everything. Check that box once a week. Sort by from or subject and get ready to delete whole sections of junk.

You should try OtherInbox. It takes the idea of filtering to a whole new level. With your own domain name (you.otherinbox.com), you can give out different addresses (facebook@you.otherinbox.com, amazon@you.otherinbox.com, etc.) that will all come back to your inbox, organized and managed.

We are still in private beta, but here is a URL with an invite code for you and your readers:
